Assam Budget Session from July 6; Dr Habbey Teron Named NDA Candidate for Deputy Speaker

Guwahati: The Assam Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session will be held from July 6 to July 31 with 16 working days. Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah will present the State Budget for 2026-27 on July 10.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced BJP MLA Dr Habbey Teron from Amri (ST) constituency as the NDA candidate for the post of Deputy Speaker. A first-time legislator and medical professional, Teron won the recent Assembly election from West Karbi Anglong district by defeating Independent candidate Bikram Hanse by 23,910 votes. The election for the Deputy Speaker’s post is expected to be held during the Budget Session.
