Assam Cabinet Approves Green Energy MoU with Reliance Industries

The Assam cabinet has approved an MoU with Reliance Industries to promote green energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Reliance Bio Energy will collaborate with Assam’s Compressed Bio Gas Sector to explore biofuel production. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted that discussions will focus on the feasibility of the project.

Reliance has shown interest in setting up a biorefinery in Assam, aligning with the state’s 2021 Ethanol Production Policy. This initiative is expected to boost Assam’s energy security and reduce vehicular pollution.

Additional announcements included investments in the Numaligarh refinery, an increase in Dearness Allowance for state employees, and financial support for Raas Mahotsav celebrations.
