Assam Cabinet Clears ₹4,257-Crore GMCH Upgrade, Eases Medical Admission Rules
The Assam Cabinet approved a ₹4,257-crore project to modernize GMCH, strengthen Srimanta Sankardev University of Health Sciences, and paramedical institutes. Of this, ₹2,200 crore will renovate GMCH’s new campus, funded mainly by ADB. The project includes demolishing the old campus and building a modern facility for 5,000 patients. The Cabinet also eased medical admission rules, allowing Assamese families settled outside the state and the Moran community in Arunachal Pradesh to claim seats in Assam.
