Assam CM Announces ₹12 Crore Grant for Navagraha Temple Renovation
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a ₹12 crore grant for the renovation of the Navagraha temple in Guwahati. In a social media post, he stated that the funds will be used to upgrade existing facilities and develop new amenities for devotees while preserving the temple’s character.
The renovation project will include improvements to the parking area, view tower, office building, accommodation for priests, and a vendor stall block, along with a security room. The temple, built in 1752 by Ahom King Rajeswar Singha, is significant in Assamese history and attracts many devotees seeking blessings from the nine planetary gods. The announcement aims to modernize the temple and boost religious tourism in the region.
