Assam CM Announces Aadhaar Card Issuance for Over 9.35 Lakh Individuals

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that over 9.35 lakh people who were previously unable to obtain Aadhaar cards due to issues with their biometric data can now get them from designated Aadhaar centers. These individuals had their biometrics collected between February and August 2019 at NRC centers. The state government found no connection between these 9.35 lakh individuals and the 19 lakh people excluded from the NRC, enabling the Aadhaar issuance process to move forward. The Centre approved the decision after two years of efforts, allowing affected individuals to access government services.
