Opposition Coalition to File Complaint Against Assam CM Over “Communal” Remarks
The United Opposition Forum (UOF), a coalition of 18 parties within the INDIA Bloc, plans to file an official complaint against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for allegedly making communal remarks aimed at inciting tensions. The complaint will be lodged at Guwahati’s Dispur Police Station, along with a request for a Supreme Court-led inquiry into the unaccounted assets of the Chief Minister and his family. The UOF also called for the dismissal of Sarma following a meeting in Guwahati, where leaders criticized the state government’s handling of law and order, particularly regarding women’s safety. Sarma’s controversial remarks were made during a heated Assembly debate, where he opposed the dominance of “Miya” Muslims in Assam.
