Assam CM Announces Development of World-Class Urban Center “Global City” Near Guwahati

In an ambitious move to transform Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced plans for the development of a world-class urban center, named Global City, at Jagiroad near Guwahati. This proposed satellite township is set to cater to the needs of employees of the upcoming semiconductor plant and help decongest the capital city.

In his tweet, CM Sarma stated, “We are building a world-class urban centre, the Global City at Jagiroad near Guwahati. This proposed satellite township will cater to the needs of the employees of the upcoming semiconductor plant and also decongest the capital city.”

The project aims to create a futuristic and sustainable city that will serve as an integrated satellite township with all necessary amenities. Positioned within the State Capital Region, Global City will have seamless rail, road, and air connectivity. It is expected to alleviate the congestion in Guwahati, which is currently struggling with a rapidly growing population, and accommodate thousands of employees who will work at the forthcoming semiconductor unit.
