Assam CM Announces Planned Eviction Drive in Margherita

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the government will launch an eviction drive in Margherita to remove outsiders with no roots in the region.

He assured land rights for indigenous groups like Moran, Matak, Koch Rajbongshi, Ahom, and Gorkha to prevent unrest. Sarma stressed protecting Upper and North Assam from demographic changes and warned against external attempts to create instability.
