Assam CM Asserts Border Security, Challenges Opposition Claims on CAA

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared at a public gathering in Dibrugarh that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state will remain impervious to infiltration from Bangladesh. He refuted opposition leader Akhil Gogoi’s assertions about potential migration into Assam following the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), stating that only one citizenship application was submitted through the CAA portal. Sarma demanded an apology from Gogoi and other anti-CAA protest leaders, holding them accountable for the loss of lives during the demonstrations. He highlighted progress in restoring peace, citing the Bodo peace accords and the return of ULFA cadres to mainstream society, claiming a cessation of divisive slogans in Assam.
