Assam CM Claims Large-Scale Deletion of D-Voters from Final Electoral Rolls

A day after the Election Commission released Assam’s final electoral rolls, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that lakhs of D-voters were removed during the Special Revision exercise. He said the deletions followed complaints by BJP workers and asserted that more names could be removed during a Special Intensive Revision after the Assembly elections.
Sarma stated the proposed revision would not affect genuine Assamese voters. The final rolls show a net deletion of over 2.43 lakh voters, with Assam’s electorate now standing at 2.49 crore, down from 2.52 crore in the draft list.
