Assam CM Criticizes Minority Community’s Voting Preferences Post Lok Sabha Elections

After the Lok Sabha elections, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a public gathering on Saturday, criticizing a minority community for voting for the Congress party despite benefiting from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme under Narendra Modi’s government. Sarma highlighted that this community, originating from a neighboring country, resides in houses built by the Modi government and uses its provided facilities but still chose to vote for Congress with the goal of “Modi Hatao.”

Sarma expressed concern over their long-term intentions, suggesting they aim to capture Assam in the next decade, regardless of the ruling party or economic conditions. He also discussed recent coordinated attacks during the election period, pointing out the limitations faced by the BJP government due to the Model Code of Conduct. Sarma emphasized the potential increase in such attacks if the BJP is not in power.
