Assam CM Defends Fuel Prices Amid Public Discontent

In response to public discontent over rising fuel prices, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Thursday that fuel prices in Assam are Rs. 7 lower than in West Bengal, making them among the lowest in India. Speaking to reporters, Sarma emphasized that the state had reduced fuel prices by Rs. 3 before the elections, although an increase of Rs. 1 was later implemented. He reiterated that despite these adjustments, Assam’s fuel prices remain significantly lower compared to neighboring West Bengal.
