Assam CM Introduces New Policy for Compassionate Grants and Pension Amendments

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a new policy where 80% of compassionate grants will go to the spouse of deceased government employees, with 20% reserved for the parents. This change ensures financial security for dependent parents. Additionally, amendments to the General Provident Fund rules allow state employees under the Old Pension Scheme to contribute between 6.25% and 100% of their monthly emoluments, with a cap of Rs 5 lakhs per financial year, offering greater flexibility in managing retirement savings.
