Assam CM Launches ₹3,200 Crore Women Empowerment Scheme

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan (MMUA), the state’s second-largest women empowerment scheme after Orunodoi. Under MMUA, eligible women will receive financial assistance in phases, starting with ₹10,000, followed by ₹25,000, and up to ₹85,000 in later stages. The scheme targets 29 lakh women, prioritizing those with limited children, no bank debt, and those sending their daughters to school. The government has set aside ₹3,200 crores for the initiative, set to begin on April 1 in Behali constituency.
