Assam CM Outlines Transformative Initiatives and Achievements for 2025

On New Year’s Day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared a vision of inclusive growth and modern infrastructure for the state, unveiling several transformative initiatives for 2025. These include a zero-cost insurance scheme for government employees, offering up to ₹1 crore in accidental death benefits, and the launch of the “Swagata Swatirtha” portal to streamline employee transfers with enhanced transparency.

Sarma also introduced a women empowerment scheme supporting 30 lakh women with financial aid ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 over three years.

Reflecting on 2024, he highlighted key achievements, such as a 62% reduction in crime, a booming tourism sector with over 75 lakh visitors, and economic growth, with Assam’s GSDP reaching ₹6.43 lakh crore. He also announced major infrastructure projects, including a ₹12,000 crore tunnel, a ₹32,000 crore expressway, and a Tata Semiconductor facility that will create 30,000 jobs.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the state will continue its focus on inclusive growth and welfare in 2025, building on the successes of initiatives like Mission Basundhara and the Arunodoi Scheme.
