Assam Congress Criticizes CM Sarma Over Mourning Protocol Violation

The Assam Congress accused Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of disregarding the seven-day state mourning for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, in a letter to PM Modi, criticized the Chief Minister for conducting government welfare programs during the mourning period. Saikia called the actions “disheartening and disrespectful” and questioned why the programs weren’t postponed, as done by states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The nation bid farewell to Manmohan Singh on Saturday with a state funeral in Delhi, marked by full honors, including a 21-gun salute.
