Assam Doctor Faces Domestic Violence and Dowry Harassment Charges from Wife

Dr. Malavika Barman has filed a complaint against her husband, Dr. Mridu Paban Nath, accusing him of physical and mental harassment. Married since 2008, the couple has a 14-year-old daughter. Dr. Barman alleges her husband demanded dowry, took over two flats she purchased, and subjected her to continuous abuse. She filed for divorce on April 25, 2019, under F.C. Civil Case No. 365/2019, seeking maintenance for their daughter. Additionally, she lodged a complaint under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, documented as Misc. D.V. Case No. 55/2018.
