Assam Draft Electoral Roll Published; Claims Open Till January 22

The draft electoral roll for Assam was published on December 27 after a Special Revision, with Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel urging voters to file claims and objections by January 22 ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls. For the first time, the draft lists will be publicly read at Gram Sabha meetings to ensure transparency.

The draft includes 2.52 crore voters, a 1.35% rise from 2025, with a near-equal gender ratio and 31,486 polling stations. The final roll will be published on February 10. The exercise is being conducted under the supervision of the Election Commission of India, which has called for active public participation to ensure an accurate voter list.
