Assam Draft Electoral Roll Released Ahead of 2026 Polls

The Election Commission of India has published the draft electoral roll in Assam after Special Revision, identifying 4.78 lakh deceased voters for deletion and 5.23 lakh electors who have shifted. Another 53,619 entries were flagged as duplicate or demographically similar.
The claims and objections period will remain open till January 22, 2026, with the final roll due on February 10. The draft lists 2.52 crore electors, while verified voters stand at 2.51 crore excluding ‘D’ voters.
House-to-house verification covered over 61 lakh households. The exercise aims to ensure a clean, accurate and transparent voter list ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Assam currently has 31,486 polling stations.
