  • Assam

Following a complaint of some police officers demanding money, the criminal investigation department (CID) of the Assam Police detained a deputy superintendent of police, two sub-inspectors, and an assistant sub-inspector along with three other members of the police department for questioning.

In relation to an incident in Bajali, Assam DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh reported that the Assam Police headquarters had “received a complaint of a demand for money by some police officers of Bajali during the first week of August.”

The directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption was then instructed to set a trap, but it was unsuccessful because the police officers were cautious, according to the DGP.
