Assam Election: ECI to Decide on SIR or SSR for Voter Rolls

With five months remaining for Assam’s 2026 Assembly elections, the Election Commission is deciding whether to conduct a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) or a quicker Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the photo electoral rolls. The last SIR in Assam was in 2005. A meeting between ECI and the state CEO is underway, with a final decision expected soon.
