Assam Expands Anna Seva Scheme to Add Dal, Sugar, and Salt for 70 Lakh Families

The Assam government has expanded the Anna Seva Scheme, offering dal, sugar, and salt at subsidised rates to around 70 lakh NFSA families. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the scheme statewide, calling it a major welfare boost.

Households will now pay ₹117 per month, which will reduce to ₹100 from January 1, 2026. The scheme covers all 33,000 fair-price shops.

Sarma also announced ₹250 direct cash support for Ujala cardholders to offset LPG costs and highlighted the success of direct benefit transfers in ensuring transparent welfare delivery.
