Assam Faces Rainfall Deficit in 27 Districts, Govt Begins Drought Response

Assam has identified 27 districts as rainfall deficit zones, with 14 in the “high deficit” category. The government has directed urgent drought mitigation steps, including pump deployment, tube well repairs, and sowing advisories. Crop loss assessments and SDRF compensation were also discussed. Ten new Co-District Centres will be launched on August 12.
