Assam Flood Death Toll Rises to Five, Over 57,000 Affected

Guwahati, July 21: Assam’s flood situation worsened on Sunday as one more person died in Sivasagar, raising this year’s flood death toll to five. More than 57,000 people across seven districts have been affected, with Charaideo and Dhemaji among the worst-hit areas.

The state government has asked the Indian Army and Indian Air Force to remain on standby for possible rescue and evacuation operations. Rescue efforts are ongoing, while 14 relief camps are sheltering displaced families. The floods have submerged 298 villages, damaged crops and infrastructure, and affected over 37,500 domestic animals and poultry.
