Bhogdoi River Breaches Embankments, Worsens Flood Situation in Jorhat

Jorhat, July 21: The flood situation in Jorhat worsened on Monday after the Bhogdoi River breached embankments at several locations, inundating villages, farmlands and residential areas. Thousands of residents have been forced to move to safer places, while drinking water shortages have emerged in the worst-affected areas.
Authorities, along with SDRF and NDRF teams, are carrying out rescue and relief operations. Meanwhile, ferry services between Jorhat and Majuli have been suspended due to rising Brahmaputra water levels, disrupting transportation and medical access for island residents.
