Assam Floods Affect Over 5.6 Lakh; Wildlife Sanctuaries Inundated

Assam’s flood situation remains critical with over 5.6 lakh people affected across 16 districts. The death toll has risen to 21. Nearly 70% of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and parts of Kaziranga are submerged, forcing wildlife to higher ground. Over 41,000 people are in 175 relief camps. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is visiting Barak Valley to assess the situation. Patrolling and animal rescue efforts are ongoing. Thunderstorms are forecasted in 18 districts.
