Assam Gears Up for Second Phase of Lok Sabha Elections: CEO Outlines Preparedness

As Assam readies for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) provides a detailed overview of logistical arrangements. With 9133 polling stations catering to 7,709,276 voters, the machinery is set for a smooth democratic exercise. Notable features include 906 urban polling booths, 473 women-manned stations, and webcasting at 4745 locations for real-time monitoring. Security measures are heightened, with central and state forces deployed and GPS tracking for EVM transport. Authorities have seized 29 illegal weapons and 72 cartridges, ensuring law and order. With 1220 sensitive polling stations and 61 candidates in the fray, 36532 polling officers are appointed to oversee proceedings.
