Assam Government Reinstates ACS Officer After Vigilance Cell’s Delay

The Assam Government has reinstated ACS officer Saibar Rahman into service after the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell reportedly failed to file a case report within the stipulated time frame. Rahman was suspended in 2021 following allegations related to the Gaon Bura scam, misuse of government funds, and alleged accumulation of wealth beyond legal sources of income. Despite the charges, no material evidence was found, leading to his release from jail. The government’s notification reinstated Rahman, assigning him the role of Deputy Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Science, Technology, and Climate Change Department.
