Assam Government Reviews Cyclone Remal Preparedness, Implements Safety Measures

Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota led a comprehensive review of Assam’s preparedness and response to Cyclone Remal, coordinating with various departments and response agencies. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) is actively monitoring the situation, with district-level preparedness assessed through video conferences with District Commissioners and Superintendents of Police. Safety measures include the suspension of ferry services until May 29 and efforts to restore road communication in affected districts. Principal Secretary Gyanendra Dev Tripathi highlighted red alert districts and emphasized evacuation, ex-gratia payments, and damage assessment. The review reflects the state’s commitment to ensuring public safety amidst the cyclone’s impact.
