Assam Government to Launch Online Portal for Rural Road Sanction Requests
The Assam government is set to introduce an online portal enabling rural residents to request road construction without relying on local MLAs. Due to shortcomings in road selection by authorities, the portal will empower citizens to identify necessary roads themselves, streamlining the process. To qualify for consideration, an area must have a minimum of 250 households. The initiative, inspired by direct appeals to the Chief Minister, aims to bridge the gap between citizens and authorities. Assam’s road network spans 65,748 km, with significant increases in surfaced roads since 2017. Additionally, the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana has completed 31,197 km of rural roads in the state.
