Assam Govt, AASU Resume Talks on Implementing Clause 6 Safeguards

The Assam Government and AASU held a detailed meeting on November 22 to discuss implementing the Biplab Kumar Sharma Committee’s recommendations under Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. AASU said constitutional safeguards for indigenous communities must be delivered without delay. Of the 67 recommendations, 52 fall under the state’s purview, and a monitoring committee is already reviewing them. AASU demanded all state-level decisions be completed by February 2025 and called for a tripartite meeting with the Centre soon.
