Assam Govt Allocates ₹200 Crore to Tackle Guwahati’s Urban Flooding

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a ₹200 crore investment under the Integrated Urban Flood Risk Management Project to address Guwahati’s urban flooding issues. Key initiatives include constructing new drainage systems, flood protection walls, upgrading pump houses, and implementing silt traps. The project also involves non-structural measures like a flood early warning system and public awareness programs. An MoU with Dutch firm Haskoning DHV is expected to aid in devising a comprehensive flood management plan.
