Assam Govt Introduces Penalty for Delay in Pension Processing

The Assam government has introduced a strict accountability system to ensure timely release of pensions to retired employees. Officials responsible for delays in pension processing will face financial penalties under the new rules.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said pensioners deserve dignity and timely benefits for their contribution to the state. As per the notification, officials may face a penalty of Rs. 250 per day, up to a maximum of Rs. 5,000, for unnecessary delays.
The government will monitor pending pension cases through the Kritagyata portal, and recovery amounts will be deducted directly from the salaries of the concerned officials through the FinAssam portal.
