Assam Govt Seeks Central Probe in Zubeen Garg Death Case

The Assam government has urged central agencies like the ED and IT department to probe financial dealings linked to the death of cultural icon Zubeen Garg in Singapore. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that NEIF organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta will face scrutiny. He clarified Assam gave minimal grants to Mahanta’s events. Sarma said nine Singapore-based Assamese linked to the incident must appear before the SIT, with Rupkamal Kalita set to arrive in Guwahati on October 7. The probe will also rely on India-Singapore legal cooperation for evidence sharing.
