Assam Govt to Address Tea Industry Issues in Upcoming Budget

Minister Kaushik Rai assured that the March 10 state budget will bring positive updates for Assam’s tea industry. Speaking at the 124th SVBITA AGM, he highlighted efforts to resolve the power crisis in tea gardens by 2027. Industry experts raised concerns over declining production due to climate change, labor absenteeism, and global conflicts. The Indian Tea Association announced pilot projects on regenerative agriculture to enhance sustainability. Assam University’s Vice Chancellor stressed the need for new marketing strategies and product diversification. Tea planters remain hopeful for government-backed reforms to revive the sector.
