Assam Govt to Procure 10 Lakh Handloom Gamosas for Rongali Bihu

The Assam government will buy 10 lakh handloom gamosas from local weavers ahead of Rongali Bihu, with over 5 lakh already procured, said Sericulture Minister UG Brahma. He urged citizens to boycott powerloom gamosas and emphasized supporting local artisans. Raids to seize illegal powerloom gamosas are ongoing. The government plans to gift gamosas to national dignitaries and has directed officials to curb the influx of non-handloom products. Brahma appealed to people to uphold Assamese pride by choosing handloom gamosas for better quality and longevity.
