Assam Gramin Bank Staff Protest in Tezpur Over Five-Day Work Week Demand

Members of Assam Gramin Bank officers’ and employees’ associations staged a dharna in Tezpur, demanding approval for a five-day work week and remaining Saturdays as bank holidays. The protest followed a nationwide call by bank unions, citing IBA recommendations already agreed with UFBU. The unions said government approval is pending, even as major financial and government institutions follow a Monday-to-Friday schedule.
