Assam Journalists Participate in US Leadership Program on Climate Action

Assam journalists Barasha Das and Sumir Karmakar have been selected for the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) by the US Department of State. The program, titled “Call to Climate Action: Building Public Awareness through Media Advocacy,” runs from June 15 to July 6 and includes visits to Washington DC, Detroit, Boise, and Boulder. The initiative aims to enhance understanding of US climate policy and media strategies for public engagement in environmental conservation. Das, a freelance journalist focusing on climate issues, and Karmakar, a Special Correspondent for Deccan Herald with extensive experience in climate reporting, are part of a group of six journalists from India. The participants will explore US progress on climate goals and learn about integrating environmental policies with media advocacy.
