Assam Launches “Mission Flood Free” to Combat Urban Flooding in Rajgarh

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled “Mission Flood Free,” a new initiative aimed at addressing the persistent issue of urban flooding in Rajgarh. The program seeks to implement comprehensive measures to prevent and mitigate flooding in the area, including upgrading drainage systems and promoting sustainable water management practices. The Chief Minister emphasized proactive steps to safeguard citizens and called for collaboration among government agencies, local authorities, and communities. Additionally, Chief Secretary Ravi Kota conducted a high-level meeting to review the state’s preparedness for flooding, with a focus on assessing district readiness and coordinating relief efforts. The initiative received support from UNICEF, which pledged assistance in assessing relief camps to ensure they meet minimum standards.
