Assam Launches One-Time Settlement for Vehicle Deregistration

The Assam government has introduced a One-Time Settlement (OTS) under the Assam Vehicle Scrapping Policy 2022. Vehicle owners can deregister unfit vehicles by paying only 25% of outstanding taxes, getting a 75% waiver.

Special Duty Officer Gautam Das urged owners to avail the scheme by March 31 to remove unfit vehicles and contribute to safe transport. If not deregistered, taxes and penalties keep accumulating. Owners submitting a deregistration certificate at a Registered Vehicle Scrappage Facility (RVSF) will get a Certificate of Deposit, allowing tax concessions on new vehicle purchases.
