Assam Launches Policy to Combat Human Trafficking and Witch-Hunting

The Assam government has announced the “State Policy to Combat Human Trafficking and End Witch-Hunting.” Issued by the Women and Child Development Department, it includes separate budget allocation and use of Mission Shakti and Vatsalya funds. The policy targets crimes that mainly affect women and girls, focusing on prevention, protection, rehabilitation, and prosecution. Committees and nodal officers will be set up at various levels. The policy aims to build a safe, abuse-free society with equal rights for all.
