Assam Litchi Farmers Gain Expertise in Modern Cultivation Techniques

A group of 25 litchi farmers, associated with Agnigarh Producer Company Limited promoted by Assam Agricultural University (AAU), participated in a 3-day capacity-building program titled “Agri-Entrepreneurship through Improved Litchi Cultivation” at the ICAR-National Research Centre on Litchi (NRCL) in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Supported by NABARD and facilitated under the Farm Sector Promotion Fund (FSPF), the initiative aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge and skills in modern litchi cultivation and management techniques. Dr. PK Sarma from AAU accompanied the group, fostering knowledge exchange. Dr. Bikash Das of NRCL expressed willingness to support scientific litchi cultivation in Assam. The visit provided insights for improving production efficiency, product quality, and exploring value addition opportunities, benefitting individual farmers and enhancing sustainability in the litchi farming sector.
