Assamese Youth Ananta Dutta Conquers Mount Kilimanjaro
Ananta Dutta, a young chief constable of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) stationed at the Indian High Commission in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, has achieved a remarkable feat by successfully climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. The climb commenced on March 25, and Ananta reached the summit, Uruho Peak, at an altitude of 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) on March 28 at 6:30 a.m. Upon reaching the summit, he proudly displayed the Indian tricolour and the traditional Assamese pride symbol, the gamosa. Mount Kilimanjaro stands as the highest free-standing mountain in the world above sea level and the highest volcano in Africa and the Eastern Hemisphere. Hailing from Jhanji Garkosh village in Sivasagar district, Ananta Dutta has garnered praise and congratulations from his hometown for this remarkable achievement. He is believed to be one of the first young men from Assam to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
