Assam Man Arrested in Kerala Over Alleged Online Extremism Links

Kerala Police arrested a 25-year-old man from Assam, Roshidul Islam, for allegedly spreading extremist ideology through social media. He was detained from central Kerala, where he had been living and working for nearly two years. Police claimed he shared content promoting religious hatred, maintained contacts outside India, including Bangladesh, and allegedly tried to procure AK-47 rifles from Pakistan.

The arrest comes amid intensified action against extremist networks. The Special Task Force Assam recently said investigations revealed a structured extremist ecosystem with online and offline operations, including links to banned outfits like Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh. Earlier this week, coordinated operations across Assam, West Bengal and Tripura led to the arrest of 11 alleged extremists. Further investigation is ongoing.
