Assam Merges SEBA and AHSEC to Form New State Education Board

The Assam government has merged the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) into a single entity, the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB). Established under the Assam State School Education Board Act, 2024, ASSEB will oversee Class X and Class XII examinations, streamlining educational administration in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Ramesh Chand Jain has been appointed Chairman, and Rukma Gohain Barua as Vice-Chairman. The board aims to modernize Assam’s educational framework to meet 21st-century needs.
