Assam-Nagaland Border Tensions Escalate; Mariani Residents Fear Displacement

The Assam-Nagaland border dispute has intensified, with Mariani residents in Jorhat district considering relocation to Nagaland due to repeated attacks. On March 31, miscreants from across the border vandalized homes, fired shots, and abducted four villagers, later forcing them to sign blank papers before release.

Frequent violence, threats, and land-grabbing attempts have left locals fearing for their safety. Earlier incidents include fires set in reserve forests. With no strong response from authorities, residents remain uncertain about their future.
