Assam Orders Treason Case Over Bangladesh Anthem Row

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed police to file a treason case against Congress leaders in Sribhumi after the Bangladeshi national anthem was sung at a party meeting. Sarma called it disrespect to India and linked it to claims by some in Bangladesh about the Northeast. Congress leaders dismissed the allegation as political drama, saying only two lines of a Tagore-written song were sung and accused the BJP of insulting Bengali culture for political gain. Sarma countered that Congress should have expelled those involved.
