Assam Panchayat Elections Conclude with 79.23% Voter Turnout

The second and final phase of Assam’s panchayat elections concluded peacefully on Wednesday with a voter turnout of 79.23%, the State Election Commission said. Voting took place across 13 districts at 12,130 polling stations. Over 91 lakh voters were registered, and 29,608 candidates contested. Notably, 1,289 candidates were elected unopposed. Counting for both phases will be held on May 11.
