Assam Police Bust Illegal Slaughterhouse in Nagaon, 285 Kg Suspected Beef Seized

Nagaon: Assam Police have reportedly dismantled an alleged illegal slaughterhouse during an early-morning operation in Nagaon, recovering a large quantity of suspected beef along with several cattle and buffaloes.

Sharing details of the operation on social media, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said authorities seized around 285 kg of suspected beef, 36 cattle and two buffaloes from the premises.

According to the Chief Minister, the slaughterhouse was allegedly being operated by Noor Ali and Noor Zaman. Police have arrested Asab Ali in connection with the case, while efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the other two accused.

Sarma reiterated that the state government maintains a zero-tolerance approach towards illegal cattle smuggling and unlawful slaughter, warning that those found involved would face legal action.

The operation is part of the ongoing enforcement measures against alleged illegal cattle-related activities in the state. Further details regarding the case and investigation are awaited.
