Assam Police Bust Poaching Ring in Kaziranga National Park

Assam Police and Kaziranga Forest officials arrested five suspected poachers in a joint operation in Kaziranga’s Bagori range. The arrests began with Arjun Rongpi, whose interrogation led to four more suspects, including Arjun Ronhang. A silencer-equipped pistol was recovered. The gang is linked to a larger poaching network. The crackdown follows Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s recent announcement of an 86% reduction in rhino poaching since 2016. Despite the progress, one poaching case was recorded this year in Kaziranga.
